Tim Martin's magnificent debut album "Smoke and Mirrors" is filled with so many of his joyful, cynical, twisted thought processes and neuroses that I always feel his presence when I'm listening to it. It is imbued with his love of cinema and analog synths, referencing classics such as the Omen, Rosemary's Baby and Robocop.

On August 7, 2007, following his usual game of basketball in Collingwood, Tim collapsed and died. He was 29 years old.

"Smoke and Mirrors" was his first and final album, and ten years later it is finally being released thanks to the emergence of bandcamp. It is an exemplary work and one which continues to astound me.

Conceptually and atmospherically, "Smoke and Mirrors" is a fully formed sonic portrait of future shock and post apocalyptic nostalgia painted with a grimly cynical sense of humour and flickers of bittersweet sentimentality. Tim transcended his key influences to create something wholly idiosyncratic and unique, a memorable album which rewards with repeated listens.

Other completed work by "Nitramitticus" will find its way here in the future. Tim's collaborative partnership with me will also have archival work released through bandcamp as the Cancer Foundation, for which I am now writing new music, some of which will be drawn from Tim's tCF - intended material.

Proceeds from purchase of "Smoke and Mirrors" will be donated to an Australian charity, most likely the Heart Foundation.
